Good old fashioned corn meal. Not corn gluten meal, just ordinary inexpensive stuff
you buy at the grocery store. Use it at 5 pounds per 100 sq.ft. and cut down on
watering. If this is in a spot where water pools, I'd say remove the sod and plant
some water loving, native ground cover.
