Mine are budding, then the bud drops off onto the ground. I would like

They get morning shade, then midday sun, then afternoon shade. They are
in a garden bed.

I've noticed the midday sun is burning my gardenia, even though I give
it plenty of water. I think it can't take the water up fast enough when
it's hot. It has no buds :( I'm going to move it, I think.

But folks: gardenias usually dot the sideroads up here in NW Sydney.
They are just about bullet proof. I just can't understand why some do
flower and others just point blank refuse. Gotta ask the council
people...

I have one at work, around 20 years old and HUGE, which is in full sun
all day long and flowers prolifically.
Sigh.
