View Full Version : Curling leaf on tomatoes

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what causes the leaf to curl on the
tomato plant?
Also, we have very clay soil, with lots of pea straw around the plants,
and I suspect my other half is watering them too much (I think he's
watering them almost every day, with the occasional break). Anyway, I'm
not much of a gardener, so I don't really know. But I just feel that it
may be too much water. He won't listen to me anyway, so I thought I'd
get your opinion.
Thanks.

I forgot to mention that we have added gypsum and horse manure to the
clay soil. Also, we have fertilised twice in the last month with tomato
fertiliser (it recommends to fertilise every 2 weeks, which we are
aiming to do).

Mine tend to curl and droop in the middle of the day. Your partner may be
watering them too frequently and not deeply enough. A light daily sprinkle
will cause the plants to be shallow-rooted, so they will wilt wasily. A good
half-hour watering twice a week is a better option.
