Hi ,
Hoping that someone can provide some info or put me onto a link.

Live in Ne Victoria.. We have approx 6 walnut trees that are dropping a good
quantity of nuts this year. Previous couple of years were very poor.

What needs to be done to the nuts, so they can be kept for a period of time?

Thanks
Fred

I dont know much about walnut trees, but I know pecans must be sprayed for
worms early in the year. If you dont spray them you have to store the nuts
in the freezer for storage until you are ready to use them. If you dont,
the worm eggs hatch and the babys start eating the pecans.

Black walnuts are different from other kinds, so I dont know if there can be
a comparison. Black walnuts can have the outer shell removed, allowed to
dry, and left just about anywhere inside until you are ready to use them.

Good luck. Dwayne

A woman, a dog, and a walnut tree, the more you beat them the better they
be.

Old proverb.

It is said that to increase production of nuts the tree trunk is beaten with
a stick to cause the tree to turn it's energy to reproduction. Many tree
crops are more prolific in time of stress, and this is a good survival of
the species instinct.

Hope this helps,
Peter
