View Full Version : Phosphate hungry plants

Hi all,

I have had cronic cloudy water, which I believe may be green water which was
not "thick" enough to look green under my lights. I don't think it is a
bacteria bloom, as I've seen that in petshops, and this has a different look.
Anyway, I have a *ahem* hunch that my tap water is high in phosphate (as I live
in FL near lots of mines). My tank is not heavily planted right now, so I
thought I'd add some stem plants to eat up the phosphate. Are some stems better
than others for this? I had my eye on foxtail and cabomba.

My tank specs

55 gal.
almost 4 watts/gal. (T-8)
Nitrates ~5 ppm
DIY CO2
PMDD

Thanks in advance :)

Ben
