Hi all,
I have managed to grow a granadilla vine after a number of attempts, as I
remember the granadilla pies my Mum used to make when I was a child. I now
have granadillas. I have a couple of problems. I have no idea how my mother
cooked them, and I do not know how, or even if, she removed the inner skin
that the seeds are attached to. I have got a couple of recipes off the net.
One says to remove the inner skin, the other does not mention it. Is there
anyone who grows the fruit and, if so, do you remove the skin and have any
favourite recipes?
I have just been cutting the flesh off the inner skin and discarding the
skin, boiling the flesh with a tiny bit of water, some sugar, sultanas, a
handfull of coconut, some spices. After about 15 minutes, I've been adding
the juice of a lemon and the uncooked seeds. It comes out pretty good, but
not as good as Mum's.
Cheers,
Dan
