Hello,
I'm new to this newsgroup. I'm interested in growing orchids after a recent
trip to San Juan. Any information/advise about the hardiest or easiest to
grow orchids for a beginner would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks in

OK, first off look up Hoosier Orchids on The Orchid Mall
http://www.orchidmall.com They are in your neck of the woods (moreso than
someone from Hawaii, california, or Florida is. Also look up Oakview. There
will also be a large sale sometime in teh late spring early summer that
Oakview and many other midwest staetes put together. It will be one one of
their webpages. Klhem...sheesh who else usually goes to that sale..??

Anyway, welcome to the hobby and check out those vendors near to you for
advice.

I should have mentioned that if you can't wait (orchidaholics can't)
Hausermann's has a sale and instructional workshops the weekend of the 20-23
of Feb.

They should be on the Orchid Mall also.

Natts down in Batavia if you want Ascdas or Vandas.
There are a few growers in Wisconsin, Michigan and Indiana.
Visit your local society or a show and find out who is around. OR
just run a google search.
Have fun. Looking for interesting blooming plants is 1/2 the fun
of getting started. Grow not just what will grow with your
conditions, but what you like the looks of when it is blooming.

Just so you know, Natts isn't just Ascos and Vandas anymore. They have
increased the number of different orchids that they sell. They have Paphs,
Phrags, Equitants, Masd., etc. They were at the Grand Rapids show a week
and a half ago and I saw their selection. I bought some. (Surprise,
surprise.)
