it's not that bad.I have had mine about 20 years
or so, [ there are over 20+] as a bonsai,pre-bonsai and
now I have them growing on a bamboo compost heap.
Using their roots to destroy the bamboo.

Can't spell Serissa - say June Snow.

They do develop thick trunks with time and fascinatingly
coarse bark.Responding beautifully to clip and grow
[alphabetical order ].You do get used to the fetid smell.

I have one growing on the patio,which if straightened out
would be just about 6' tall.I suspect that they could reach
10' with a trunk of over 6".

If I get the time I will put up the - a bonsai - for Ms.Iris
and yourself.Loved your Gingko.

I still don't understand exactly why so many people on this list dislike
serissa's.


1) Beginners like them because of the "thousand flowers", buy them,
and then pester me on my website about why they are dropping all
their leaves. And I have to be nice, and not say things like GOOD
RIDDANCE TO BAD RUBBISH. They are not good plants for beginners.
They are demoralizing. And they smell bad.

2) For nonbeginners, they are not inspiring bonsai material (except
if Suthin does them). Where is the trick in doing a bonsai from a
twiggy shrub with tiny leaves?????? Big deal. When I had one, I
actually wished it would die so I could buy something more worthwhile.

3) You can't say anything about them without first writing "Serrissa"
"Serrisa" and "Serissa" to remember how to spell the word. Then you
have to spell foetida. Forget the whole damn thing, people. Buy a
fig.
