Default What Are Some Good Brackish Plants?

I have African cichlid tanks, and I keep them pretty salty (1 tsp per
gallon) to enhance there color and keep them healthy. What are some good
hardy plants that can withstand the salt?

I found this on a web site some time back, saved the text but not the link...sorry.
I've never kept cichlids, so I don't know if they would eat these plants or not.
Hope this helps!
Nikki

As in NaCL or as in K2SO4, CaCl2, MgSO4?
Look at what specific ions that are in the water there.
Plants do quite well at high levels of GH, (the Ca and Mg) and the
SO4, Cl anions can be fairly high also.

Some plants from the lakes: Hydrilla(not in the USA!) Vals,
Potamogeton etc will all do well i high salt(NaCl-1400ppm) and GH type
water(500ppm, GH's of 25+). I've pulled plants from places like this
that were very densely infested/planted.

Most folks can do just fine without any additions for AF cichlids
since 99% are bred here locally, in local tap waters and these are
hardy tough fish, a few Tangy's might be wimpy, Xeno's, Cypri's etc
and if you like wild caught fish etc. Other wise 1/2 the GH's are
fine(or salt content).

This has no ill effect on plants and the fish are quite fine and have
excellent color, breed etc.

Plants mainly care about NaCl, not GH.

Tom Barr
