Default ID This Flower, Please

I snapped this picture of a flower in my neighbor's garden.
He did not know what the flower was (his wife is the gardener) and
neither do I. I know I've seen a lot of them so they are fairly common
in Southern California.

Bingo! You are exactly correct.
That is what I suspected but there are soooo many different sizes,
shapes, and colors for Dahlias that I can never be sure.
We checked with Mama and she verified that it was, indeed, a Dahlia.
