In the past 24 hours, we got 0.90 inches of that. Unfortunately, our primary water supply comes from northern California, 500 and more miles away. While we have 12 huge reservoirs, they are insufficient. Instead, we need substantial snowfall as our real "reservoirs". Note that the 12 reservoirs held only 24% of their capacity as of 1 November. There was a nice little one a few days ago, and now we're having some serious precipitation, thank you Lawdee (or whomever). Alas, brings with it danger of slides, hillside collapses, etc. partly due to extended drought = poor vegetation coverage. It is not fun to see your house slide down the hill or mud slide down & cover it. Fortunately my chateau is on boringly flat ground, and my roof is holding since the la$t leak repair. Must get out tomorrow and buy another trash can to catch the roof drips. I use them for the indoor plants that just LOVE that clean sky water. The City does have a plan that enables citizens to get rain barrels basically FREE after rebates, which cover installation as well. I didn't get around to it because what water to catch? Now must close barn door. Appreciate your concern! Reciprocated for OZ in general. HB reciprocated |
