Default Tree planting noob

I live in south eastern Ontario, Canada.

I plan to buy a maple (probably red maple but not 100% sure) from a local
landscaping place. Their maples are roughly 10 feet tall in 24-36" diameter
pots.

Is timing crucial at all? should I wait til next spring? No difference?
