Hi ,
Need some help in improving the lawn condition .. there are some black patches in the lawn and I dont know what to do . The lawn is roughly 1.5 years old was applied as turf. Most of it is all right except the two patches as in pics. need some help please. I think if its a disease it will spread and spoil the rest of the lawn ..
any help please.

I see a drain in the corner and that area is muddy. Is it flooded and/or
wet most of the time? In the shade too? Grass likes occasional watering
but typical turf won't doesn't tolerate being constantly saturated and wet.
It's OK if it gets soaked for a few days, but then it should have
enough time to thoroughly dry out again.

Yes you are right , there are two drains but why would that matter . They are under the ground ..yes drainage is poor .. so any advise on what can be done to recover the lawn or the black patches..I have sprinkled lawn sand .. ( reading through net ) .. hope that helps..

The drains themselves don't matter. What matters is that
they are indication that the area may have a problem with
too much water so that it's wet most of the time. Another
indication is that it's muddy.



yes drainage is poor .. so any advise on

Where does the water come from? Roof? Gutters should take
it away from the foundation. Grading wrong? Ground should
slope away from the foundation. Is it shady too? Grass is
harder to grow in shade.

There are grasses that are made for shady, wet locations.
Johnathon Green Shady Nook is one of them. It's probably
not available in the UK, but you could google it and get the
idea and find similar in your area. If it's wet and shady,
grass that likes full sun isn't going to do well. If grass
won't grow there, maybe you could make it
into a planting bed area, with shrubs/plants that like
moisture.
