Have you admired & been inspired by the beautiful gardens featured in Monty Don's French Gardens series currently on BBC2? You can catch the last episode this Friday 15th February at 9pm on BBC2.

Next, you will visit the home and gardens of Claude Monet at Giverny in Normandy. The artist lived here from 1883 until his death in 1926 and the house and gardens, made famous by his ‘Water Lilies’ paintings, have been restored to Monet’s original designs, the gardens being considered by many to be his greatest work. Planned out meticulously so that a different colour would dominate every month, the beautiful shades and shapes ensure the gardens are a delight at any time of the year.

Delightfully situated in the heart of a beautiful forest and surrounded by an impressive garden, this was once a hunting residence of the former French monarchy. Gardens of the Loire with Chaumont
Blessed with rich soil and a mild climate, the Loire Valley more than lives up to its reputation as "The Garden of France". As you travel at a suitably leisurely pace through this tranquil and timeless landscape, one magnificent château after another appears before you, each one apparently striving to outdo the other for romantic atmosphere or dramatic situation. The serene and stately gardens that surround the pale sandstone walls of these castles belie the turbulent history of the area which played an important role in the French Revolution. Nowhere is this serenity more evident than among the immaculately maintained terraces of the Château de Villandry. Although the present gardens date from the early 20th century, this is a faithful recreation of a 16th century Renaissance garden and quite breathtaking in its complexity
From your comfortable hotel in Angers by the majestic River Loire, you will visit some of the notable gardens in the region. These include the intimate but well-stocked Jardin du Petit-Bordeaux and the intriguing Japanese garden of Maulévrier; the delightful gardens and micro-vineyard hidden within the massive walls of the Château d’Angers and the tranquil and timeless Fontevraud Abbey. We will also take this opportunity to visit the prestigious International Garden Festival at Chaumont, set in an idyllic location in the grounds of the château, overlooking the Loire, where young landscape architects present a range of imaginative and thought-provoking gardens.
Taking the strain out of the journey, you travel by Eurostar and TGV from London St Pancras to Angers, a chance to sit back and relax as the French countryside flashes by.

Prices are 4 nights 16th May & 5th September fron £555 per person

Regional flight or train connections are available.
