Default Can genera Sophronitis, Cattleya, Brassavola, etc (Orchidaceae)become one?

hello all,
I ve recently bought Genera Orchidacearum, and I have a question,
which is basically a discussion topic.

Why didn t the authors make a bold decission to move all
''cattleyoid'' genera to one big surely monophyletic genous,
(Brassavola would be the earliest name)?
This way, Sophronitis, Cattleya, Brassavola, Rhyncholaelia,
Guarananthe, etc would become one nice homogenous genous, and all the
thousands of hybrids will vanish. The world will not be the same
without x Brassasophrocattleya, but discussions about them so much
easier.
It also makes sence in a tribe with genera that have more than 100
species (Epidendrum, Prosthecea, Encyclia, etc)
