Suggest you try one or more of the gardening newsgroups.

There's a Pommie one called uk.rec.gardening (IIRC) and there are
several in the Big8 newsgroups under rec -- e.g. simple rec.gardens,
then the more specific groups such as rec.gardens.edible etc. (Do a
search of your newsrc file for "garden" and you'll find them all.)
