Default Green Algee

I have a big pond, in cement... the green algee it's a big problem. Just
don't know what else I can do to get rid of it!
I have a good filter with UV, but not enough. I have planted it and all,
but still not enough. I have even covered the pond with a net, so it
wouldn't get so much sun... it didn't work!
Sometimes I see pictures of ponds that are cristal clear.
The only thing I don't have it's rocks at the bottom of the pond!

Help?

ABC.....

I am not sure if you mean a green-pond algae or green-string algae. You
should be able to have crystal clear water with green-string algae and that
is beneficial to fish. You say "a good filter". What is the ratio of
filter surface to pond surface? Ratio of volume doesn't mean much unless it
is a very shallow pond and lots of sun. And I assume you are speaking of a
bio filter. With sufficient filter you should get crystal clear water.

Plants will help but, lacking a good filter, it takes a heck of a lot of
plants. For
long-range planning, you might consider planting shade trees on the south
side. My pond is half shade, half sun.

My pond has no rocks whatever -- except temporary ones when my grandsons
visit -- and it always looks like the fish are suspended in the air. I find
that rocks make an annual cleaning very difficult.

If I can help further, email direct
