Default Clearest water ever

For some reason that I don't understand, our water is clearer than
ever before. Tea colored for sure, but essentially NO floating
particles. Wonderful.

Seems like my pond is ahead of schedule for clearing this year as well.
I don't have a U/V so it's been taking a couple of months to get that
"gin clear" look. I'm not complaining.

I concur that the veggie filter is working. Still, it worked each
other year, but without such clear water.

The onlly difference is that there are more lilies in the pond this
year.

Started out the year a bit blurry, but once the lily pond popped, it has
not only been clear, but stayed long string algae free. Whereas the upper
pond of the koi ponds has dread locks, where the lower pond (and they're
connected) does not. I blame it on all the rain. ~ jan

Our waterfalls have blanket weed. The berm and main ponds do not. I
attribute the lack of string algae in the main pond to the kpi who
used to regard it as a treat. I attributed the lack of blanket weed
in the upper pond to the problem competing witht he rapid growth of
the hyacinth (that now cover both 4 x 8 berm ponds totally and are
growing up). I will have to take a look at the top ponds to think out
again why they have no string algae.

I note that the jelly-like blue/green algae is growing happily on the
rocks of the waterfalls. I haven't thought about why that is there.

Any ideas?

Jim

I can't say. My waterfall gets the chlorinated water when I do a water
change, it also gets little sun, thus little algae grows there. I wonder if
sprinkling koi clay on that type of algae would do the trick? Works on
blanket weed. ~ jan
