That's my thumbs going. Where's the rain, dammit?

Great weather for drying the washing, but all my plants are drying out as
well. Planted some more natives in the native garden bed a week or two ago
because Mike Bailey said it would rain. Planted out a cistus too, and a
purple asparagus. He was wrong. The cistus was looking a bit crook today --
hope it likes the bucket of water I put over it.

Then there are all the plants that just haven't come up....

On the bright side, I just harvested some Jerusalem artichokes to have for
tea. I also followed the advice from Gardening Australia on pruning my quince
tree. Tomorrow I will glypho some more kikuyu that has been spreading in my
vegie patch -- and the dry weather has been good for using glypho. While I
find glypho useful, I'm pretty happy about Monsanto stopping GM trials here.

Thank you to all who e-mailed rain; we've had about 7mm today here and quite a
bit in the Warragamba catchment, I think. I planted some smaller natives on
the weekend and was relieved to see Proper Rain turn up; last time I planted
something on the grounds that rain was forecast, it never appeared.

And I need a few more shrubs. Time to visit Annangrove Grevilleas again...
