Countax Ride on Mower
Hi,
I hope that there's somebody out there who can help me, I've got a countax K14 with and upgraded Briggs and Stratton 16 hp engine. The problem is that after i've been using it for about 20 mins the cutter deck cuts out, i can restart it straight away using the switch on the dash and it goes for another few mins then will cut out again and may or may not restart using the switch. This will carry on untill it gets to a stage where it won't restart and i have to leave it for about 10 mins before it will restart again. I've tried changing the switch on the dash but this has made no difference, I've been told that it could possibly be the diode in the line to the clutch, the circuit board in the dash or perhaps even the clutch itself. But to be honest the chap at the shop who told me this just seemed to be listing everything in the circuit. I was wondering if anybody had experienced similar problems or had any idea about what my problem might be? Many thanks Mogsy |

Mogsy, Can't really help, except to say I'd call or write to Countax. They pride themselves on service, presumably they will try to get you some help. I have a C800 and have had no such problems as you describe. My issue is that the sweeper attachment is not really up to the job. About every joint imaginable has come unwelded. Thankfully my neighbor has the kit to fix it, this last time we reinforced with about 50 lbs of iron scrap, so hopefully it will make it through the season. -E -- Emery Davis You can reply to ecom by removing the well known companies |

I think I may have a solution. Your issue lies with the magnetic switch underneath the parking brake. It's not the best of switches, and gets knocked out of alignment by dirt thrown up by the tyres (especially when you're scarifying). At least on the new C600H's, if it stops making contact, you out the brake on, then get off the seat, the engine stops. On trying to start it, you'll see a "C" in the display instead of a "P". Either simply push the switch assembly backwards by hand until until you see a "P" (then press start), get a new switch, or just short the wires (but this deactivates a safety feature). Hope this helps. br/David
