that - remove old felt and replace, or should I replace with a new
material - say corrugated iron? If so, can you purchase ridging and flashing
(?) for the apex of the roof, and the edge of the roof? If you can - where
from? I'm in the mild and balmy north - Aberdeen.

If the boarding below the felt is still in good condition I would re felt
the roof, depending on the felt you have on there now, you might be able to
felt over what you have, using a good bitumen and new felt.

I recently refelted a 24 X 19ft roof cost was around £40.

We have successfully re-covered worn out shed felt with both
(secondhand, free) corrugated iron, and a lightweight non-plastic
corrugated roofing sheet in a material called Onduline, which is cheap
and stands up to Scottish weather for years; our oldest onduline one is
almost 19 yrs. Onduline sell compatible ridging as well....try a
websearch for it. Either of them can just be fixed on top of the old
felt; onduline is lighter if you have any doubts about the strength of
the shed roof, and is also easier to cut. It's available in DIY/Builders
sheds in Glasgow so should be available in Aberdeen.

Part of my shed's felt ripped off in a gale and landed on the path,
(glad it did rip off or I would not have known there was a problem as I
don't go in that shed very often, it is a store for all sorts of things
such as computer bits, children's toys, books etc etc etc). I nailed
that bit back on again and gave the whole roof another coat of
"Aquaseal", a type of pitch which goes on with a paint brush :-)) and is
VERY VERY good. Covers the nails, gaps and joints.
Very cheap, had a tin for about 5 years now for patching up and I seem
to remember it cost about £6.00 Obtainable from B & Q but elsewhere as
well I expect.

I wouldn't use felt its life expectancy is very limited and therefore
must be renewed periodically. I used corrugated aluminium, that I must
admit was a freebee from a neighbour, it will outlast the shed.

Sounds good. I have a 30 foot long shed with a sadly worn out felt roof, and
was considering using "Cladco" galvanised coated sheeting - but this stuff
seems a lot easier to fix. So - where can I buy "Onduline" in the UK -
living in Surrey?

I bought a house in about 20 years ago with a small kitchen extension. The conveyance had the plans in the convincing pack and said it was all in order. I have had some other work done and there are faults with the extension build. It did have planning permission granted, but it was never signed off by the building control. Where do I stand in terms of getting it fixed? Is my conveyance at fault for not checking?
