Default Loganberries

This year I'm finding that the flower/fruit shoots off the main

Never had this before and wondering if anyone has an
explanation?

Here in North Cornwall I've just cut my loganberies back as they've
finished fruiting.

No problems with them such as you've experienced. In fact, this has
been the best year ever with them. I must have picked between 25 and 30
lbs of fruit this summer.

Loganberries, gooseberries and black currants have been highly prolific
this year.
