Personally, I like algae growing on the driftwood. It often forms a beautiful
lawn, and adds to the natural beauty of a tank.

But if you want clean driftwood, get a clown pleco. It doesn't get very large,
and will keep your driftwood so clean it looks like it's been sanded. (They
are wood eaters, and constantly rasp the driftwood.)
