Let me see if I get this straight. Ignorance of the law is an excuse? Or
the rules your mother broke weren't in black and white on paper? Or if
the local government doesn't have you sign a piece of paper that you've
read and understand all the applicable rules, laws and ordanences, they
shouldn't apply to you.
The only real difference between the two situations is you agree with
Victoria that her neighbor is annoying, and you don't agree with your
mother's neighbor that your mother is annoying. That's perfectly fine.
You're entitled to feel those ways. Just don't expect the rest of us to
be as blind to the irony as you are.
