Default Types of Roses

(Jenn) wrote in message ...
I have been told here that the list of roses I am growing are know for
disease problems, should I dispose of these?
Does anyone know of any hardy disease free roses I can purchase this
year?

These are what I am growing now

Jackson and Perkins Roses:
Brigadoon
Cesar E. Chavez
Diana, Princess of Whales
First Prize
Sunbright
Fragrant Cloud
Citrus Tease
Tropical Sunset
Chicago Peace
First Kiss
Lover's Lane
Falstaff
The Prince
Guinevere
English Sachet
Crackiling Fire
Sun Sprinkles
Duan Juan
Gemini
Double Delight
Cabana
Peace
and this is just to name a few. I want to add some old roses and modern
roses this year, but I am not sure what would be a good place to order
from. I want to add some hardy roses. I had a tremendous problem with
aphids (but who doesn't) powdery mildew and incredible black spot this
past year. If you know of any hardy and beautiful picks of roses, please
let me know,
Thanks so much! jenn

Hey, Jenn, what state are you in? I would not take anyone's word at
face value regarding "known" problem roses. How have they been for
YOU? Each and every rose has it's own personality, and one that is a
problem for you may be a joy in the garden right next door.
Find out about the Rose Society in your area, and whatever roses you
decide to "shovel prune" simply donate to your Rose Society. They
raffle them off to help raise money, and I am a recipient of one of
those raffle roses that was HEAVEN for me last year! Lagerfeld was a
BLOOMER for me, yet most likely was not for the one who donated it!
Please let me know what you plan to do with yours, and I would love to
help you find new ones as well.
Ciao for niao!
