I agree, I've just planted some bulbs after the rain and apart from
the top inch or so the ground is completely dry.

Whichever kind soul sent me some sunshine this morning: thank you!

With luck it might be dry enough for me to mow the other half of the
lawn this evening. (I mowed the first half on Monday, but everything was
so soggy that the lawnmower was clogging & I got green feet walking
behind it.)

I need to cut an Escallonia hedge that is getting out of hand, but
because the leaves hold so much water you get soaked to the skin...

Even when it doesn't rain, the dew is so heavy here in the autumn that
everything is soaking wet!
