Default Eheim Ecco Problem - Need Urgent Help!

I did not grease the seal. No where in the instructions booklet does it
mention that. Interesting... Did you take a look at the picture I posted
to see where I indicated the water could escape if I tilted the canister?
Problem in my city is that I don't think any of the LFS sell Eheim
products - lucky me

I'll take it to one of the LFS and see if anyone has any ideas before I go
and buy another brand. I'll also buy some vaseline and try that as well.
Is that a common thing... the Vaseline on the seal of a new canister?

Here's the skinny:

I setup my Eheim Ecco 2231 canister filter last night and it was running
quite well. As a pre-caution I put the filter in a bucket... just in

case.
Well... I awoke this morning to discover the "just in case". The bucket

had
over a litre of water in it.

It doesn't appear that the water dripped from the tubing or where the

tubing
is connected to the joints, though it could've happened. I've stopped

the
filter and pulled it apart just to inspect (the DIY in me) and see if
everything seemed kosher. Everything seemed okay so I'm about to empty

the
bucket and run the filter again... in the bucket .

Does anyone have any ideas as to what could've caused this water to

appear
in the bucket? Does anyone here own an Ecco?

This filter needs to be up and running ASAP so I'd greatly appreciate

your
prompt responses.

As with any cannister if you don't get the seal quite right on the lid the
thing can/will leak. Chances are that by pulling it apart & putting it

back
together you've solved the problem. Only other thing is that if it is a
brand new filter, did you grease the seal?

I.
