Default Shallow rooting climber for East-facing fence

I have 6' fence and I want to cover about 20' of it. Alongside the fence
is a 3'concrete path so any plant will have to go in a pot of some sort.
The plant shouldn't be so thick or thorny as to make the path useless.
Suggestions?

(So far considered:

1. Several espalier apple trees or maybe a cordon
2. Grape vine(s)
3. Kiwi fruit or similar Actinidia
4. Fan trained fig
5. Edible or sweet peas

Rejected as NAF:

- Ivy
- Russian or "mile a minute" vine.
