Has anyone had success in thickening the base on Brazilian Raintrees? I

they are lovely trees, but have never seen one with a flared base. Thanks,

If we are talking the same tree, I have two. Both purchased from the
"specialist" at Jupiter Bonsai. (Jim Moody the founder died this spring and now
the nursery is run by his daughter and grandson.) One I have was purchased
in a three gallon nursery can for what I thought was a lot of money but it does
have a flattened trunk about an inch across, it is also shedding bark and
showing white. The other was in a smaller pot and had a smaller trunk. So the
secret as well as I can tell is to use a larger pot and let it grow wild.
