Default pine tree disease..

Not neccesarily the pines you see tho.
Supposedly much of North Carolina was hardwood forest and longleaf pine
before it was almost completely deforested for agricultural purposes
by the colonists. The reforestation of North Carolina started in the 20th
century with a big boost from the great depression and the end of the
family farm.
