Default Getting rid of ivy?

One TV gardener suggested using vinegar in a spray bottle on cut ends, as it
will travel to the roots.

I know in Portland, Oregon, USA, there is a group that travels into the
woods taking out English ivy, as it is taking over in many places. It's hard
to kill.

I have some along my house borders. I try to keep it tamed by cutting it
back often.

I also waged war with ivy. The only way I won was to take a pick ax and
just go for it. Good luck, Barbara

Dear All,
Having just moved house, I now find the far end of my garden is
covered in ivy. As I dug up and removed the dead tree from the middle
of the mess, I also tried to get rid of the ivy roots, but dont seem
able to get all of them!

Is there any way that someone out there may have to get rid of this
damn stuff before it suffocates any other trees or eats my wooden
fence?

I am based near the south coast, UK.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Regards
Andy
