Posting pictures to the newsgroups
All the newsgroups on this site do not allow pictures to be posted to their newsgroups (sometimes referred to as binaries). I have set up a separate thread to allow pictures to be posted, and the poster can copy the link into their post.

I am testing a much better version, where the poster will attach their photo to the post, and the link will be created automatically making it a breeze to allow others to see your photos.

Update 3rd May This is now working and fully functional - just attach your photo to the post and the software will do the rest.

Subscribe to threads
This function is unreliable at present due to the ways that the threads are imported. I am having trouble identifying the solution.
Timescales: Not sure I'm going to crack this one

Update 18th July I've not been able to make this work in conjunction with importing posts from the newsgroups. For now, I have removed this option from view.

Showing pictures from other newsgroups
This isn't possible yet due to the completely different way pictures are handled by the two protocols. I'm sure there is a solution, but it is low on the list of 'to do' things at the moment.

Update 30th August Getting closer, I am testing a solution at present, but it is not perfect, however I do believe now that this can be solved.

Replicating ezines and egroups
I am testing ways of showing ezines and egroups (e.g. Yahoo egroups) on this bulleting board. The tests have gone very well, including the posting of photos, however I need the permissions of the lists owners before I start showing these.

This will add great variety and specialisms to GardenBanter, as the topics are quite specific, and will be of great interest.

If you know, or manage, any good lists please let me know. I am intending to make them 'read only' so visitors to GardenBanter will be able to read them, but will need to subscribe to the list owner if they wish to participate.

Update 30th August I have been given permission from several list owners and I am generating the archives at the moment. This will take about a month to generate a meaningful amount of posts, and then I will make it public.

This is also brings in to question the number of groups that are currently mirrored - I will have to reorganise shortly and some of the smaller or less relevant groups to UK gardening may have to go, but I will post here first any proposals.
