Apples don't self pollinate, but you can buy "family trees" which are two or three compatible varieties on one rootstock. Check that you actually like all three varieties. The variety of tastes among apples is hugely greater than the variety of tastes in the apples sold in supermarkets. Though it probably doesn't matter, as there's only a few varieties used on family trees.
