[quote=dido22;895618]Hello,

I plan to put a fruit tree, either an apple tree or a plum tree, in my
front garden. I only have room for one. so it needs to be self-pollinating.
Does anyone know which are the best self-pollinators, apples or plums ?/QUOTE]
It depends what is in your neighbours' gardens! People who reckon their tree is wonderfully self-fertile might have a secret friend.

This commercial nursery website has a lot of information on pollination requirements. Keepers Nursery - possibly the largest range of fruit trees and soft fruit plants in the world Click catalogue, then click advanced search for apple or plum, and you can then search for self-fertile varieties. They show about 20-odd self-fertile apple varieties in their catalogue, rather more plums.
