I can remember buying spuds for my mother, in the shop someone asked how
many pounds for 6d (old money) The reply was 5lbs.!!!!

Yes I just remember when spuds were a penny a pound!
Later when I had my first garden I bought a small bundle of (summer)
raspberry canes for 2s 3d (about 11 or 12p?) in good old Woolworths.
They lasted me for years. moved to another garden and then to my
allotment: at least 20 years-worth.
