anybody use one or recommend one?

electric lawn mowers?
 

they should be good on small yards when i was mower mechanic they
where never very popular as you have the power lead to consider when
mowing not to say you can get electricuted that easily but when you
cut the lead you need to get a newy usually. the flymo electrics if
you like that cutting system where about the best nice and light steer
clear of those black and orange thingies i reckon made to throw away.

not as powerful as petrol engine models and lots quieter of course not
more environmently friendly than a petrol engine model well a 4 stroke
that is.

am actually looking at a cordless model now, so no power cord to contend
with.

My father had an electric flymow. He managed to cut the cord twice, but
survived OK.

It did a good job, but you have to keep the lawn mowed regularly. If you let
the grass get long it becomes difficult for the flymow to cut as the long
grass slows its movement and overloads the motor as it tries to cut.

The same applies to petrol mowers too, of course, but they have enough grunt
to bash through the tall stuff..

I have never operated an electric mower. Without noise and petrol fumes,
where's the fun?

The Queen visited us at the Chelsea Flower show 2004 and the Duke of Gloucester purchased an ENVIROMOWERTM which is now housed at Kensington Palace.

Does she use it to mow the carpets? :-)

Hi i have a XS38 Electric Lawnmower, love it!I Purchased direct from
the importer [full warranty was $299 has a RRP $349

Its excellant [the misses uses it, aint i lucky!!] never missed a beat,
no fuel oil smell no starting issues

Its 15" cut and has a super powerful 1416 watts motor [the reason i
purchased it i want grunt]

Comes with a plastic grass catcher not that material fabric rubbish
also comes with a safety-switch equipped lead [so i cannot electrocute
her] and also the mulcher and catch blade fitted on it.

Forget the enviromower, only 400 watts and goes flat quick [and crazy
price $500+] my next door has one he wants to dump it.He may sell it to
you he is buying same as mine

I have an electric roller mower.
I wouldn't go back to the old petrol one.
Just plug it in and off you go.
Does a real good job.

Hmmmm......Is it as environmentally friendly as they claim? It requires
recharging by mains electricity which in Australia is generated by burning
coal. In Victoria, the green house gas emissions from electricity
(generated from brown coal) are much greater than those from the transport
sector. Probably no better environmentally than a petrol mower and perhaps
worse. The environmentally superior alternative is a push mower or, better,
a native garden that needs neither cutting nor watering.
