Veggie suggestions needed
Hi All,
Have some spare space in the veggie garden in southern Victoria, and with winter approaching (severe frosts here), wouldn't mind some suggestions for winter crops. One challenge is that one consumer is diabetic (ie cut down on spuds) and the other is on a medication that requires minimisation of vitamin K (leafy green veggies, but spuds are fine). Any suggestions apart from silverbeet and broad beans???? Linda |

The one who needs to cut down on Vitamin K wants to be wary of Broccoli

Atleast that's what I was told. http://www.abc.net.au/gardening/stories/s4290.htm http://www.netspace.net.au/~atkinson/indoor.htm http://www.soilandhealth.org/03sov/0...020106ch6.html -- Wanda aka Willow The missing and definitely not to be taken seriously under any circumstances garden gnome http://www.2000cn.com.au/~willow ~~faeries are able to fly because they take themselves lightly~ Linda wrote in message ... I am diabetic and still eat potatoes. Just not as many or as often as
before. Diabetics can have 150 carbohydrates a day and can eat potatoes and cut back on something else. Good luck. Dwayne "silvasurfa" wrote in message . .. "Linda" wrote in message ... Any suggestions apart from silverbeet and broad beans???? The diabetic can eat the Brussels sprouts, kohlrabi, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, spinach and silverbeet; the medicated one can eat the spuds. They can both eat the broad beans, peas (snow? sugar snap?), beetroot, lettuce, carrots, turnips, Swedes, mustard and cress, parsnips, etc. -- Chookie -- Sydney, Australia (Replace "foulspambegone" with "optushome" to reply) The most consistent empirical proof from history is the doctrine of human depravity. -- Chuck Colson |
