I sitting here enjoying the evening cool after a hot, hot, day spent
spreading hay to hungry cows Windows open and a gentle cool easterly
breeze coming through, but the bloody foxes are barking! I hate that
mournful sound!

Send in some Poms. Actually it could be the poms. (cant play cricket,
invented it).
They were responsible for them in the first place.
They brought them in for hunting. The werent any good at that either.
But as usual, they're good at moaning about things.

I think Jonno meant a Maremma - these are the white dogs that are
supposed to guard their flocks agains foxes/wolves

Foxes apparently live in Central London in areas that were bombed
and
never re settled after WW2. Their bark would be more annoying than
here with their pommie accent etc.

They actually live in central London in all suburbs. They are very
effective scroungers and the Poms also feed them.

They also live near the Federal Parliament House building in
Canberra - one vixen had a lair under one of the bridges between New
Parliament House and Old Parliament house - she had at least 3 cubs
which I saw.

They are - my neighbour has one to guard her flock of alpacas, but the
sodding thing spends more time on her bed that outside and he's had to
have 2 hip operations and he's still only a young dog.

Forgot the name but know they come from Italy, or am i wrong there? The
mind can play funny tricks.

PS I mentioned about sharks goinf further upriver due to lack of fresh
water, and there on oneradio station, a report of a shark seen up a
river today...
Sounds like they were right on ABC Radio saturday morning...

There is actually a very aggressive shark, the bull shark, that likes
estuarine waters and is responsible for the majority of shark attacks
worldwide.

I remember a few years ago, some rather drunk fellow decided to swim across
the Parramatta River at Parramatta, near the river-cat wharf. It's not very
far, but when he hopped out the other side there was a big bite taken out of
his leg. That's about as far as a shark can get upriver!

That is a shame, the future doesn't look too bright for him then.

Never fear, that dog will have the best of care for as long as his
life can possibly be extended. The rest of us resort to the bullet if
need be but not her.

She had a Warmblood mare that injured its foot and the foot had to be
bandaged every day as it wouldn't heal. She kept that horse alive and
well for 3 whole years before it finally died as a complication of
giving birth - nothing to do with the foot.

She sacrificed her garden as the only truly safe and secure place that
she could guarantee that this horse was protected and wouldn't face
any further trauma was her garden, so there it lived looking thorough
the window and talking to the other horses over the fence. I'd hate
to think how much she spent in bandages alone let alone the weekly
vets visits - I know he charges a minimum of $80 for a home visit and
the garden when the horse was finished with it was - well, 'finished'
as a garden.
