Default passion fruit vines dying

My passion fruit vine, being in the middle of severe water restrictions
is showing signs of dying. Dimpled fruit, yellowing limp leaves and
major unhappiness.
If you see fruit going dimpled give it a thorough soak now. Its probably
to late for mine but I'm trying to save it at this point. Has anyone
else got or had this problem?

How old is the vine and what part of the country are you? As I understand it
they have a limited life span of , think, seven or eight years.

We lost our Epacris impressa to the drought even though it is native to
local area and our lemon and apple trees are droping leaves and fruit like
you wouldn't believe - I guess no home grown apples this year but alot of
frozen lemon juice and home made lemonade.

It only three four years old. Its not old enough to die.
I know its a water problem.

My Silver Beet, which was standing upright at 10.00am this morning was
lying down and having a rest at about 5.00pm, then we got a storm and
it stood up again.

No, I don't have that problem, but then I don't currently have a
passionfruit. It's jsut everything else that needs constant watering
and regulalry threatening to die.

I thought I'd give others a warning, this ones a huge threat. Its never
looked like this b4. Though it may pick up, I have some doubts.
I will keep us informed.

g'day jonno,

i'm ne passionfruit expert either but what i have heard some varieties
(the purple one?) only have a life of around 4 some go for longer, so
it may depend on the variety?

also what are you doing with your grey water from the house? we have
one of those jamacian gold i think? only just planted a few months
agao, all it gets is shower water and some of my wee water, and it's
loving it.

No Mulch at all. It fights its way with a tree for survival, like all
things its birth was accidental. Water restrictions are creating a
jungle here in Melbourne with the local State government looking for way
to stop home gardeners growing food etc by restricting their watering
hours due to what I feel is who "cares type" management and not looking
well into the future.
No dams indeed. You cant make any more rain, I say then, No banks then
either, you cant make any more money.

They look like a government, but do they smell like a government talk
like a goverment? They smell like b^&%*%*shit. But I bet it wouldnt grow
anything.... Other than that theyre probably OK.

ok jonno,

i'd suggest throwing some grey water at it and then mulch it heavily
mulching won't affect the tree negatively either.

and yes that's what we pay those expsnsive monkees to do hey "the
politition walk hey"

yes they want all home agrdens shut down and they want you all to be
drinking sewer water and paying for it at the tap. now how silly are
their constiuants, silly enough to spend vast amounts of money and tv
time watching all sorts of sport and not getting in touch with what is
happening closer to home. and then paying for waste water to drink.

Jonno! Shame on you! This is the first thing you should have done
if you noticed it looking sick!

Your passionfruit is getting its roots alternatively baked and
watered, baked and watered.

Just a couple of days ago you mentioned to someone that their plants
probably died from the heat after repotting.

Mulch the poor thing and see if a nice even temperature ground with an
even water supply will do it any good.

Its in the shade (the root system)and there isnt enough mulch to go
around at the moment.
It gets a whole heap of rain and while the restrictions are on havent
checked it as much as I should've.
There is only so much time to water.......
Will get around to it when I finally get back to work.
Anyone want a bus driver with a medium rigid in Melbourne?
(For those people who might misconstrue the above, it is a licence to
drive a truck which is classed as a meduim rigid vehicle. No need for
viagra)
