Does anyone know or have made garden edgings.

I know I can go and buy them at Bunnings (which for me is quite far without
transport), but if there is a way I would like to be creative and do my own.

Our local Kmart only has those cut down logs stuck together at the back with
black plastic material.

Any ideas anyone? Thank you

A friend of mine made her own. She wanted the concrete ones that were 2
levels so she had a garden edge and a mowing strip. She figured that mixing
concrete was just like making a cake and eventually did her whole garden
using masonite strips which she held in place with metal spikes while the
concrete set. She said that she had a whole stack of men who, while they
walked their dogs, would stick their heads over her front fence, check out
her progress and give her tips on how to do the job properly. Dunno that
this will be a lot of help to you htough if you don'thave transport. Bags of
concrete are heavy.

I can order the concrete bags and have them home delivered from the Sand and
Cement place. Probably cheaper than Bunnings.

Mostly for the small front yard where the soil is spilling over onto the
paving/stencil area.

hm, well you could use rocks if you have them!

i reckon sleepers look very nice too. mainly, i think the more "natural"
edgings look nicer but perhaps that is just me. things like that look better
built up a bit into a low wall rather than flat.

old bricks can also look great. old pavers, even.

do you have a large sort of "general garden hardware" type of place which
delivers? or perhaps a 2nd-hand building materials place? (i love those!!)
hopefully places like that would have a variety of bricks, wood & whatnot
that you could check their site & get some ideas. if you wanted to go wild,
perhaps you could find interesting 2nd hand tiles & make a feature of it.

In the UK i edged my garden with a steel edging product. the company who make it are called everedge and the web site is www.everedge.co.uk

I don't know whether it is sold in Oz but it might be worth a look, just for the idea

Wow! A UK poster! Welcome!

I know a few of us post to URG, but I don't think that we've ever had the
reverse happen. Even if they are asking about Australian plants the URG
crowd don't bother asking here which always amazes me.

And I've seen some dodgy advice given there about Aussie plants, like giving
Australian natives phosphorus for Pete's sake!!!!!
