Shallots question
I got given a bagfull of lovely shallots grown by my NE Vic-based FIL and
thought they tasted wonderful compared with the bog standard brown onions. I nearly fainted at the price of them in the supermarket though. How easy are they to grow? When is planting time? I am in Melbourne. |

What impressed me was how they formed their cloves and any I missed came up the next year and formed more. Unfortunately I got greedy and ate them all and forgot to plant more out. Such is life |

I am in Melbourne. i was given a handful a few months ago, so i planted them. they are doing very well & have multiplied considerably (despite the fact i seem to always forget to water them or anything). so they seem to be awfully easy to grow :-) if you're buying seed, just do what the packet says. if you're planting some of the ones you've got, just put them in & see what happens. kylie |
