Aaaaah! You need a couple of Jack Russells. Mine are very skilled ratters
and don't ask for much but do like a nice lounge to lie on in the afternoons
for their post prandial snooze.

Where were the blighters hidden?

Under a piece of corro where I was trying to kill kikuyu.

The problem is that Jack Russells don't mix with guinea pigs and chickens, and
I don't like dog poo, worming, cost of dog food, etc.

:-)) My JRs are very chook savy. I had rats in the chook's night house so
let out the chooks, took the JRs in on their leads and shut the gate behind
us and we had enormous fun killing rats.

Now, when a fox penetrates the outer fence and leave a hole where the JRs
get in as I go through the gate and I find a dog right on my heels, I have
no trouble with the JRs. I can let out the chooks and they will stnd back
and let them all walk out of the night house and then they are in like Flynn
looking for rats. They totally ignore the chooks as they are so rat
focussed.
