No dig gardening and seed planting
Esther Dean's Gardening Book Growing without digging suggests:
"Tip a circle of rich compost 10 cm deep and about 45cm across where
seeds are to be planted
Sprinkle this layer with some fertilizer
Cover with about 20cm of loose straw"

Can anyone add anymore information to this advice before I take the
plunge with carrots and corn. (I am in coastal north east NSW)
Thanks

Yep -- put a layer of newspaper (about 10 sheets thick) or cardboard
underneath to prevent weeds coming up from below.
