Default pruning and starting Echiums

any advice on pruning Echiums would be greatly appreciated - I havent been
able to find anything in my gardening books.

I am afraid I have left mine to long and it is a bit leggy, so I am trying
to start some cuttings (with no success as yet) in order to replace it. Any
suggestion on what sort of cuttings to take, when, and how long they take to
root?

I live in a hot dry area of NSW.

Thanks,

Libby
