Default Bougainvilleas

I have been looking at planting some bougainvilleas as climbing plants.
As there are so many different species, I was wondering if someone could
help me with my queries.

So far I have seen the following bougainvilleas at the nurseries:-

Bougainvillea Magnifica Traillii (this is my favourite with the
lovely deep purple colour)
Bougainvillea Little Guy
Bougainvillea Temple Fire
Bougainvillea Tango Supreme
Bougainvillea Magenta Glory

Of them all, I like the Magnifica Traillii best of all. But I don't
believe this was the one that I am looking for. I first saw this
particular bougainvillea growing over someone's back boundary fence and
overflowing with masses with lovely purple bracts but the bracts and the
leaves of this bougainvilleas were small and tiny compared to the
bougainvilleas that I have seen so far. But this bougainvillea was
definitely hanging over a standard height fence (at least 2 meter ?) -
so any idea what species this particular bougainvillea could be?

If I wish to grow the bougainvillea against the side boundary (wood)
fence of which the other side is the wall of my neighbour's garage. How
many plants will I need (given it is a standard size garage)? Will I
need to erect wire or wooden trellis to help it climb? How harmful is
this plant to the a wood boundary fence (I have seen my other wood
boundary fence disintegrated from the veracious ivies)?

I have been told, that the bougainvillea magnifica trailli is the best
one suited to Melbourne's climate.

Your help is much appreciated.
