Thamnocalamus tessellatus
I have 2 Thamnocalamus tessellatus, had them for 3yrs. I live in
atlanta, GA. These two plants just wont grow. Any new shoots die off during winter. the plants just aren't growing. I have moved one to a large pot with very good soil to see if that will help. Any ideas on how to get these going in my area? |

I.e. good leaf color, leaves don't curl up on hot days, leaf tips don't die and dry up? If it has any of those or other symptoms (or others that you notice) let us know. Also, how cold does it get where you live? I wouldn't think a Georgia winter would kill this variety back, but I don't know Georgia very well. |

I have been told by one person it it the summer heat that the nights don't cool off enough for it. It seems like each shoot gets smaller every year. Cold temp in Atlanta is maybe 10 bad winter 5. No snow to speak of but ice storms do occur. All of my bambusa (Alphonse Karr, Silverstripe, Golden Goddess, Tiny Fern) are doing fine |
