Newbie question: creating new buds?
 

I have a "lucky bamboo" that I've enjoyed and re-bundled several times
over the years.

A friend recently game me another bundle of green stalks with roots,
but several of them have not buds.

Is there a way to force buds (sprouts?) to appear on these stems?

This is a bamboo group.

"Lucky Bamboo" is not bamboo, it is a Dracena.
