Are willows in any way related to bamboo (or visa-versa)? I have noticed
lately that along the highways & interstate in this area, willows growing
wild. when young (before they have developed a noticeable trunk), they look
very much like bamboo.

Just curious,
Sam

Yes, both are vascular plants.

Nope, a Willow is a tree and Bamboo is a grass. A tree continues to
grow in size, bamboo is at full size within 2 months of appearance.
Once the bamboo is fully grown it will no longer grow except to
produce leaves.

Well, they're both plants. Bamboo is a grass and willows are trees.
