Growing Bamboo in Desert

I live in Oman in the Middle East where for about 3 months temps are
over 110 F. I have a balcony that receives a lot of morning sun and I
have a 22 month old who eats just about every thing except what is on
his plate.

Given the weather and my toddler, can someone suggest a variety of
Bamboo I can grow (in a container)?

Thanks,

Maya

Golden Bamboo loves heat.
It's a runner too so it will be good in a pot.

I would also use a screen of shadecloth and be prepared to water the
container, even let it stand in a dish of water during the hottest
time of the year.

Golden Bamboo makes a marvellous container plant, and is greatly
underused in the USA for this purpose; the Chinese feature very
ornamental containers of Golden Bamboo, pruned to about six feet, in
their gardens. My only caution is to remember that the container gets
hot, the roots get hot, this is not good, so keep the container
shaded. resting the whole thing in a shallow saucer of water is also
good. If you add water to the desert, it does bloom, the heat and
light are wonderful for plants, ONCE water is added.

I agree very much.
Golden Bamboo is great container plant, and is greatly
underused in Canada as well.
For all it merits it should be planted and enjoyed much more.
