When To Expect Shooting
I live in S.E. Nebraska. The temps now are starting to stay in the mid-40's
to mid-50's. When can I expect to see my bamboo shooting? I have a Phyllostachys aureosulcata aureocaulis. This will be the first time the plant has been in our winters, and my first bamboo. At one point during the winter, it got to about -10, with wind chills to about -20 for about 3 days or so. The top growth looks like it didn't make it, but I'm hoping the rhizomes did. This being my first plant, I'm not sure when to look for shoots. Thanks. -- SamMan Rip it to reply |
After apple blossum and dandylions bloom.
It's a pretty hardy species, if it was in the ground a few months before frost it should make it. |
